Our Role
A Trusted Bridge Between Investors and Funds
The Investment Funds Ombudsman Service was established to ensure that individual investors have access to a fair, low-barrier means of resolving complaints against investment management companies that are members of the BVI (German Investment Funds Association).
We do not act as an advocate for either side. Our sole purpose is to examine the facts, apply the applicable legal and regulatory framework, and reach a recommendation that is just, proportionate, and well-reasoned.

How the Ombudsman Procedure Works
A straightforward, structured path to resolving your complaint.
Contact the Fund Company First
Before submitting a complaint to us, you must first contact the investment fund company directly and allow them the opportunity to respond. If they do not resolve your concern to your satisfaction, you may then approach our office.
Submit Your Complaint
Complete our complaint form or contact us in writing. Provide all relevant documentation, including correspondence with the fund company, account statements, and any contractual documents relating to the dispute.
Assessment and Review
Our ombudsperson examines the admissibility of your complaint and, if accepted, requests a formal position statement from the investment fund company. Both parties are given the opportunity to present their case fully.
Recommendation Issued
Based on the evidence and applicable law, the ombudsperson issues a written recommendation. For amounts up to €10,000, the recommendation is binding on the fund company if accepted by the investor.
